"LETHAL EMBRACE" (2005)

This was a simple commission piece that I did for a client up in Chicago while I attended the Wizard World convention in 2005.

"Batgirl" has always been one of my favorite subjects to illustrate over the years and I always find it a "pleasurable treat" when asked to draw her.

The client wanted two characters in the piece, with one being a villain/villainess. I suggested "Poison Ivy" as the foe for the picture.

Ivy would normally be an easy subject to draw if it weren't for those "DAMN" vines of hers, but the way I conceived the idea for this piece involved the addition of Ivy's "children".

Although the appearance of the final sketch is "alluring" this was not intended to be a bondage piece... it just ended up looking like that. I have always interpreted the character of Ivy as more bisexual in nature, much like the plants she so adores.

I was so personally pleased with the outcome of this sketch that I made a copy of it, so that sometime in the future I can do a more finished version of the art (inks & colors).
