This was an illustration that I did based on the characters of a fellow artist friend of mine; Scott Shoemaker of Onixan Studios. I have been working with Scott on the independent science fiction series "Super-7" for creator/writer Robert Wawzyniak for the past couple of years, with myself as the primary penciller/layout artist and with Scott as inker/colorist.

"Marshmallow Robots" is a science fiction/fantasy story that Scott had been developing for some time. When he first told me about it, I found the story and it's characters very interesting so I decided to create a piece depicting some of the main characters of the series. I experimented a little with the color scheme on this using an illustration that Scott did as a basic color guide for the characters. The more challenging aspects of the picture were the convincing depiction of metallic surfaces and rust along with the female character's hair color and overall look.

As artists, Scott andI have very different styles in illustration and design and whereas I was faithful to Scott's design and "look" of the characters that he created, I also gave them my special twist and added detail to some components of the characters.... you might say that I "Surfaced" them.
