This illustration was originally intended to be used as a pin-up for an issue of "FemForce" magazine.
"FemForce" is a product of AC Comics, a small independent company based out of Longwood, Florida. Founded and operated by comics veteran Bill Black in the early 1980's, AC has been in business for over twenty years, not only creating unique characters like comics first all female superhero team (FemForce), but also producing quality reprints of rare, hard to find comics of the 40's , 50's , and 60's...some of which hadn't seen print in decades.
Nightveil is one of the key members of Bill Black's female hero team "FemForce" and originally began her career as the gun toting "Blue Bulleteer". She is also one of the most powerful characters in the AC universe.
Her powers are based in magic and spells and she often battles with demons, monsters, and inter dimensional beings.
As I stated before, the art was intended to be used as a pin-up for FemForce magazine but was used as a cover instead. Bill Black had approached me to do a short story to be included in a "Nightveil" one shot. I penciled and inked an eight page short story for the book entitled "A Visit to old Friends" which was written by Paul Melette. The art you see here was used for the cover of that issue.
I surrounded the character with lesser demons to make reference to her roots in dark magic; if you look closely you'll notice one of the demons perusing over an issue of FemForce magazine.
Bill Black gave me the opportunity to have my art published for the first time in book form (as well as my first Cover), and for that I am extremely grateful to him and the staff of AC Comics.
