This is a reference model illustration of one of the main characters from the upcoming science fiction maxi series "SUPER-7" created by Robert Wawrizniak.

The character's name is General Reen and from his appearance and demeanor, it's pretty safe to assume that he is a villain in the series; in fact he is one of the main antagonists of the books.

He is basically the "DARTH VADER" of the series without the guilt and regrets. He is quite impressive in his physical presence but his weakness lies in his sometimes blinding ambition and bloodthirsty quest for power.

When I take on a new assignment, whether it be a series ,a commission piece , a cover or design subject ,I often do a series of loose sketches to work out ideas. In character design I usually do a character reference drawing, like this one, to help guide in the look of the character. I do this with all characters that I work with whether it be an established icon like "Batman" or a lesser known subject like the General here.

The General's look was pretty much secured by his creator when I came on board the series, I just tweaked it a little here and there. If you look closely you'll notice that Reen is part machine, with some cybernetic components featured; most notably his right "claw", which harbors a terrible weapon that the General likes to use way too often to dispatch any who may disagree with his politics.
