This was a commission piece I did for a client and even though it appears here in black & white, the art was in full color. I had to go "old school" on it, using traditional Pantone markers and colored pencils for shading.

The pose I have her in presented a particular challenge for me because I feel I'm still weak in my foreshortening and this was required for this piece, most notably for Thundra's left arm and leg.

In such cases, I find that reference material is very important. The background along with the slain alien foes were added in after I decided that the picture needed something "more".

The aliens were inspired in part by the "Cave Trolls" from the "Lord of the Rings" films by director Peter Jackson.
