This is the full version of my company logo,the one you see on other parts of the site is an abbreviated version of the same art.

I came up with the logo sometime in the mid 90's, and have been using it ever since to represent me and the SURFACE ART STUDIOS.

Why a dragon? I have always been fascinated by the mythological creatures and the power(s) they possess, and the special place they hold in Human history. But I also chose a Dragon to represent me personally, because it is a powerful creature capable of conducting great and terrible things. I also happen to be a child of the Dragon - I was born in 1964 "the year of the Dragon" on the chinese calendar.

The design went through a few revisions before it's final appearance. To make my Dragon more unique in style, I chose to give him only two forelegs instead of the traditional four, he is also based on European design.

The Celtic framework refers to my Irish roots, in fact I refer to this creature as a "Celtic Dragon". Red & Black are the main colors used because of their importance to me and they are personal favorites.

You'll notice that the Dragon is carrying the tools of an Artist in it's talons, (pens ,brushes ,pencils etc...) I use this art and abbreviated versions of it in my correspondence, letterheads, web design, and business cards.

In the future I hope to use it on apparrel, Banner & advertising items, as well.
